Samsung has marked the start of its Junior Software Academy in South Korea, a program that will allow students to learn about software and engineering after school. According to Samsung, it will "help children learn basic software technologies to become fresh sprouts of the software industry," sprouts that the Korean manufacturer will no doubt be looking to hire to further its own software efforts at a later date.
The academy is for students aged between 11 and 17, and software classes will be offered at 500 schools throughout the country, reaching 10,000 students. The lessons will be held after school and during the weekends, and will be held mostly by Samsung employees. For college students majoring in software engineering and experienced software creators that are currently unemployed, there will be an option to work as part-time teachers.
