Samsung infographic on image sensors explains what it takes to make a good smartphone camera

Taking photos with a smartphone camera has become rather commonplace today, with smartphones offering image quality that rival those of some cheaper dedicated cameras. However, for most folks, a good camera is usually the one with the higher amount of megapixel count, which isn't actually the case, as a higher megapixel count usually just decides how much detail you can capture in a particular image. So, what does make a good smartphone camera? Well, it's the image sensor, and Samsung's infographic explains how and why.

The infographic talks on a lot of factors that come into play when it comes to image sensors, including low-light sensitivity, color accuracy, and capture speed. The Galaxy S4 and Note 3 offer great image quality with a rather standard-sized camera sensor, so Samsung sure does know what it's doing, and with the Galaxy S5 set to feature a 16-megapixel camera, the infographic is a good indication of what we can expect from the upcoming flagship in terms of camera quality.
