We've already heard that the Galaxy Note 3′s Super AMOLED display uses a PenTile pixel arrangement like the Galaxy S4, but lack of official word from Samsung still left a small doubt whether that was actually the case. Well, that doubt can be given the boot today, as the Korean manufacturer has apparently confirmed to AppDated that the Note 3 uses a PenTile display.

Like we've said in the past, at such high resolutions, the effects of a PenTile matrix – where a single pixel only has two subpixels instead of three – are negligible and hard to discern. PenTile AMOLED displays also have inherent benefits – they take less power than RGB displays and also last longer (due to a lower number of blue pixels, which are least efficient on OLED screens), so all in all the PenTile tech should not be an obstacle in enjoying the beautiful 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display on the Galaxy Note 3.
